There are over species of diapriids estimated to occur in the world, but less than half of these have been formally described. The 12 genera involved share strong relationships with both western and eastern Palearctic fauna; nine genera (Basalys, Coptera, Entomacis, Idiotypa, Monelata, Paramesius, Psilus, Spilomicrus, and Trichopria.
Two genera, Aneuropria Kieffer and Diapria Latreille and two species, Aneuropria foersteri (Kieffer, ) and Diapria conica (Fabricius, ) (Hymenoptera: Diapriidae) are recorded from Iran for the first time.
The specimens were collected using Malaise traps from Hyrcanian forests of Mazandaran, Gulian and Golestan provinces in northern Iran. We provide an overview of diapriid wasps associated with ants in Argentina and the diversity of interactions they have developed with their hosts.
As a result, we report 16 species of nine genera of Diapriinae, two new geographic distributions, three new association records, illustrations, and photographs.
