The subfamily Diapriinae (Diapriidae: Proctotrupoidea) in the New World is reviewed at the supra specific level.

Three tribes and 52 genera are recognized. Sixteen new genera are proposed: Apopria. This web site is about parasitic wasps of the family Diapriidae (Hymenoptera). These wasps are found nearly everywhere in the world, but are rarely observed by the public due to their small size (~2mm on average).

There are over species of diapriids estimated to occur in the world, but less than half of these have been formally described. The 12 genera involved share strong relationships with both western and eastern Palearctic fauna; nine genera (Basalys, Coptera, Entomacis, Idiotypa, Monelata, Paramesius, Psilus, Spilomicrus, and Trichopria.

Two genera, Aneuropria Kieffer and Diapria Latreille and two species, Aneuropria foersteri (Kieffer, ) and Diapria conica (Fabricius, ) (Hymenoptera: Diapriidae) are recorded from Iran for the first time.

The specimens were collected using Malaise traps from Hyrcanian forests of Mazandaran, Gulian and Golestan provinces in northern Iran. We provide an overview of diapriid wasps associated with ants in Argentina and the diversity of interactions they have developed with their hosts.

As a result, we report 16 species of nine genera of Diapriinae, two new geographic distributions, three new association records, illustrations, and photographs.

We highlight myrmecophile symphylic species, with a high degree of integration with the Cited by: 6. Diapriids are currently classified into four subfamilies: Ismarinae, Ambositrinae, Belytinae and Diapriinae.

The Ismarinae and Ambositrinae, most recently revised by Masner () and Naumann () respectively, are clearly defined morphologically and easily distinguished from all other diapriids.

The types of nominal species of Diapriinae in the collection of the Natural History Museum, London, are catalogued. Lectotypes are designated for the following taxa: Diapria peraffinis Ashmead, ; D. smithii Ashmead, ; Galesus bipunctatus Ashmead,; G.

(G.) foersteri var. nigricornis Kieffer, ; G. sexpunctatus Ashmead, ; G. walkeri Kieffer, ; Idiotypa nigriceps Kieffer, ; I.

Cited by: 3. The Diapriidae are a family of parasitoid wasps. These tiny insects have an average length of 2–4 mm and never exceed 8 mm. They typically attack larvae and pupae of a wide range of insects, especially flies.

The about 2, described species in genera are divided into three subfamilies, and the group has genera of Diapriinae book global : Insecta. Naumann () presented the diagnostic characteristics of the Neotropical Ambositrinae and Masner & García () a key for the identification of Diapriinae genera of the New World, but there is no identification key for the Neotropical Belytinae genera (see Hanson & Gauld, ).Author: Alex Leite Quadros, Carlos Roberto F.
